Ancestry.com commercials just irk me. They remind me that I will only be able to go back maybe three generations to find out where I came from. I can’t use a website to find my ancestors because my ancestors weren’t “people” until the 1900s. My ancestors can’t be traced back to their native land because they were taken and told what their names would be…if they had names at all. My ancestors were “girl” and “boy” and “nigger.” Those aren’t things that you can type into the search bar on ancestry.com and expect to find anything useful.
